the Christmas itch

Yes, I am one of those people who has to fight the itch to turn on Christmas music before Halloween.  I am the person who would have Christmas lights on year round if I didn't think I'd be the laughing stock of the neighborhood.  I love this time of year and to be honest, most years I'd already have my tree up.  But, this year we're doing a turkey party for Miss Peach's birthday - more on that to come - and I'm waiting to do the Christmas decorating until after her big day.  It's been painful.

Anyway, this Christmas itch was just one that I had to scratch, so along with the Christmas music that's been blaring in my classroom during my prep time, I found a little Christmas project to ease the "I don't have my tree up yet" anxiety.

Sweet little wreaths that I knew would put a smile on my project-lovin' girl's face.

There's not much to these, but they were super-fun to make.

Oh, the abundance of glue! I tried to keep her from going crazy, but there was only so much I could do.  She was having a ball and the glue did all dry eventually....it only took a few days. :)

I love making messes with her....creating...teaching her that the materials aren't quite as important as the love you put into the project.

We are a chatty, crafty pair!
I'm so glad that she likes to create as much as I do.

Peach loved picking out buttons and choosing exactly where they would go.
A whole lotta' love went into these Christmas decorations.
And you can bet I'll be saving mine for many years.

Here's our final product.

A little old-fashioned...dare I say "Grandma-ish"?
But sweet.

And come Thanksgiving, we'll be giving them away to the people we love most.
If you get one of these, try not to notice the excess crusted-on glue and consider yourself truly cherished.
