Wow...another year.
2012
Somebody pinch me - I cannot wait to fill up these blank pages with the stories of our family!
There's an excitement in our home right now that I can't quite explain.
We're praying for some REALLY big things and I'm excited to share about them...eventually.
We'll start with a new name. "Hubby" will henceforth be referred to as "J". I was getting tired of the old nickname and he never really loved it. We don't tie ourselves too tightly to things like nicknames around here. Out with the old and in with the new, right? Roll with it!
The rest of the excitement of 2012 will unravel as the year creeps along. We're not sure yet what this year has in store for us, but as the Lord answers our prayers (in ways we expect and ways we could never imagine) I will be sure to document them right here in this space as a testament to our children that God truly does hear us.
Let's begin with what's been going on at our house during this most lovely holiday break
Peach has been busy.
In her new kitchen.
Let me explain.
J and I did stick to our commitment to get the girls three gifts.
However, to use a football analogy, we called an audible at the last second.
J had verbalized several times that all the work I had put into folding the doll clothes so neatly into that wardrobe would be lost in no time and the clothes would be a "throw it in wherever you can find space" disaster. I realized he was right and that she wasn't quite old enough for it yet. So, it is safely tucked away for "some day".
She had a smaller kitchen that my mom had gotten for her a little over a year ago. But, she'd lost interest in it over the past few months as it really was more of a baby kitchen.
So, with the help of a friend, we got a floor model discount on this beauty from Pottery Barn!
The drawers to the left were being used to store mittens, hats and other winter gear downstairs. But, I found a new home for those things and repainted the drawers. Then, I chose pretty paper to line the insides and filled with Peach's stash of play food, pots, pans, aprons and other kitchen items.
Her imagination comes alive here.
As well as her mommy practice with feeding her babies, cooking meals and the pure delight she finds in washing the dishes!
(Can somebody give me a little of that?)
Tulip got these wooden cookies with velcro frosting and the two of them have been having a blast playing with them in the living room.
Peach bakes and Tulip licks, chomps, pulls apart and sometimes throws. :)
So, with the start of 2012 upon us I'm happy to say that we're as spontaneous as ever!
That's what I hope this year looks like.
A whole lot of flexing, bending, adjusting and not being afraid to change the plan mid-way.
There is security and comfort in the plan,
but excitement in the adventure!
Here's to a year filled with many more adventures.
Cheers!
