october was a hoot...for real
this is the first year that Peach has really gotten into Halloween
which gets me all excited about the other holidays that come at the finale of the year
she received several packages this month from stellar family members
these sweet nails came in the beginning of the month
my, how she loved them
if you want a good laugh, just picture me trying to get a coat on over those things....or her trying to go potty :)
Tulip did her fair share of whooping it up for Halloween....or maybe it was more me dressing her in orange and black all month.
whatever. it was fun.
spider headbands also put us in a most Halloween-y spirit
a couple dreary days provided the rain we desperately needed and a good excuse to get out our craft bucket
and peach finally got the date with daddy that she'd been asking for....carving a jack-o-lantern at the kitchen table.
it's the simple things...
circle eyes and a happy (not spooky!) smile...those were her requirements
I think he delivered.
at the end of the month, our house looks, feels, smells and tastes like fall.
and that makes me all kinds of happy.
just the other day peach said to me,
"momma...first we have halloween.
then it is my birthday party.
then we are going to have a banquet for thanksgiving.
then it is Christmas...."
my response, "yes, i know - we have all kinds of things to look forward to, don't we?"
and then her little voice asked,
"momma...what comes after Christmas? nothing?"
hmmmm.....the end of the year is certainly a crescendo of sorts.
and while i'm going to enjoy every drop of all the goodness that the final stretch of a year brings, i'm going to have to start thinking about how to bring some spark to january and february.
:)
