warning:
the following pictures are bursting with spring
if you're content to sit in the dreary wearies of gray, rain and cold....you should stop reading
right.now
every few years my bday and mother's day land perfectly in the same weekend.
this year was one of those jackpot years for yours truly
friday morning j woke me up with birthday donuts and little people singing their fool heads off
i endured 31 birthday spankings, which really turned out to be about 129 because tulip got to "seven" at least nine times and then went back to one, starting all over again.
the hubster had a track meet that night, so the girls and i had supper with some of our fave people and made a monster mess of the house while laughing and catching up....it was delightful
saturday brought my mom and dad, riding bikes with laser focus and dandelions up the absolute waz
and let's not forget about the hopscotch....the longer, the better, we always say
on an unrelated, but very important side note....
daughter number one braved her 5 year booster shot without even flinching and when i showered her with accolades for her bravery, she proceeded to inform me that she was ready for earrings.
i made note of this, talked it over with j and made a promise to take her to the mall some time.
i was thinking that "some time" might happen over the summer, or in preparation for going to kindergarten
but she reminded me
every day
for weeks
i drove her to the mall and braced myself for drama and tears and snotting and gasping for air
she proved me wrong and took it like a champ
now i catch her in the bathroom (multiple times a day) just gazing at her reflection in the mirror ;)
these earrings have sent her confidence soaring and she's all the sudden looking and acting more grown up than i'm ready for
but back to our laid-back, just the way i like it, no fuss, celebration of entering the world and give a shout out to yo momma' weekend....
sunday we made our traditional trip to hidden hollows nursery
peach informed me that "greenhouse is a terrible name for it. it isn't green and it isn't a house."
noted.
we picked out pretty plants, not checking what kind of care they need, but just buying them because they made us feel happy
this kind of shopping never frustrates my husband. ever.
we then traipsed home just in time for little lady naps and big girl planting on the deck
she wore her new dress from grammy, we made a terrific mess and chatted about how we love the smell of dirt
our deck is looking bright and bold
i have beautiful flowers that i have no idea how to care for because i threw the pokey instruction things away
they will probably be dead by july
i'm okay with that
sparkle gifted me three nights of sleeping twelve hours
tulip has been randomly singing about how much she
"wooooooves mommy"
and my husband has informed me that i may just be entering the smart phone world.
WHAT??!?!
a phone that my students would actually approve of?
they've been telling me for years how lame it is that i'm still operating on the free phone from Sprint
my cup runneth over
happy momma's day, y'all
