dashing through the snow

every season has its perks.
which is why i love living here.
we get all the seasons.
and all the fun that comes with each.

sledding tops the winter fun list around here
and we got out for our first rides this weekend

the first flakes of the year melted soon after they arrived.
but we weren't too disappointed as we knew there would be plenty more in due time.
it all started on saturday night...a light, beautiful snow painting a picturesque backdrop for a cozy night at home with friends.
in a few short hours our neighborhood went from brown and dull to the winter wonderland that i've been waiting for.

these boots are quite possibly one of the main reasons that i've been hoping for snow

this easy-goin' gal jumped into sledding with the same joy and enthusiasm that she has approached all of life thus far with.
i'm praying she always finds joy in the simple things.

that smile...even on a cold day, it melts me

make "snuggles" second on our list of favorite cold-weather activities

my hubby - what a stud in his aviators!

those lashes are impossible to resist

our snowy street

the smooches have been abundant at our house lately
i love it and participate as much as anyone...
but sometimes tulip gets tired of sister all up in her business.

speaking of sister...
hubby made a pint-sized sledding hill for her in our sloped yard
and she was in her happy place.

begging over and over, "again daddy, again!"

she zoomed down that hill several dozen times, until we were all chilled to the bone

i'm sure we'll be back real soon...

but my favorite part came when we got inside.
after we stripped off our wet gear, hot cocoa was calling our names.

the smell, the taste, the rosy cheeks....

ah, yes, this is one of the perks of living in Minnesota.
no one-horse open sleigh, but plenty of dashing through the snow
and i'm lovin' it!

  2. Awesome job at your blogging. Better than I could do. how do you find the time with two little one and working. I love the pics and glad to see you are all having fun. You have more snow than we do up here in northern minnesota.

  3. Hi Leah! Kristin gave me the link to your blog since her and I were talking about mine (livingasthepearl.blogspot.com). It is so cute! Your girls are growing so fast since we saw you at her wedding in June. So, so cute! Anyway, just wanted to say hi. Love your blog.
