ice cream

There's nothing special about this post...just a cute trip we took to a nearby town to enjoy some ice cream on a beautiful night.  I want to remember it...that's all.

Peach wanted one of these...

...but got one taste of hubby's banana milkshake and decided that was better.  So naturally, she traded.  She's a lucky girl to have him for a dad.

My fave:  chocolate in a waffle cone.  In my humble opinion, you absolutely cannot go wrong with one of these.

Tulip slept in the car...next summer, you'll get in on all the good stuff, sweetheart - I promise.

There's a lot to love about living where we do.  Perfect August nights and a community where you can let your kids (and dog) run around and play are just two of the things that I love about this place.

you.cannot.lose.my.love

I heard this song on the radio today.  It is one of my faves.  I love how a song that I've heard and sung hundreds of times can seem new and fresh just because it has that perfect rythm...those exact lyrics that reflect what's in my heart.

You will lose your baby teeth.
At times, you'll lose your faith in me.

You will lose a lot of things,
But you cannot lose my love.

You may lose your appetite,
Your guiding sense of wrong and right.
You may lose your will to fight,
But you cannot lose my love.

You will lose your confidence.
In times of trial, your common sense.
You may lose your innocence,
But you cannot lose my love.

Many things can be misplaced;
Your very memories be erased.
No matter what the time or space,
You cannot lose my love.
You cannot lose,
You cannot lose,
You cannot lose my love - Sara Groves

When I think of all that I feel for these girls, for this family, for this life...words fail me.  I can't describe how much I cherish them, but this song gets close.

and I quote:

There are so many things I love about Miss Peach....but one of her best qualities is that she's funny.  She makes me laugh right out loud several times a day.  I guess when you're talking nonstop all day long, something funny is bound to come out sooner or later.  Here are some of the quoteworthy things that have recently come from the mouth of this babe:

During a bike ride, Peach shouts from the Burley:  "Momma...when I get bigger, I will drive this bike....(long pause as she thinks)....and when you get yittler, you can ride back here."

After a close call with almost not making it to the potty on time, she dramatically wipes her brow and says, "Phew...I almost gorfot!"

sometimes I catch her just giggling to herself

While I was putting food in the dog's bowl the other day, Peach gets a terrified look on her face and shouts, "Momma!  Don't put your hand in there or Mya (our very docile pooch) will bite the whole thing off!  It already happened to me twice!"  (as she holds up four fingers)

Hubby and I are trying to teach her the value of "listening" to us, we've mentioned that Mommy and Daddy also have to listen to those wiser than us and those that have authority in our lives.  One day, Peach declares, "Mommy yistens to Jesus and I yisten to Mommy."  With a proud smile, I say, "That's right.  And what about Daddy?"  Peach scrunches up her face and says, "Oh, Daddy?  He yistens to Mommy."  (I promise I DID NOT bribe her to say that!)

And my favorite:
One day, while nursing I'm nursing Tulip, Peach announces that she has to "go potty".  So, I tell her to go ahead and I'll come in to help her when I'm done.  A few minutes later, Peach declares, "Momma, I can't reach the toilet paper, so I'm using the shower curtain instead."  Although I was concerned about the shower curtain, I must say that I am proud of her problem-solving abilities.

What a stitch!  So glad she's mine.

almost a memory

Here it is...our summer in review.  I'm more than a little sad that it will soon be a memory.  But I am thrilled to look back on it and say that we made the most of it.  Lots of laughs, a few tears and the first summer of the 4 of us

it.was.a.blast.

gum

she's been asking for it for weeks...gum

I kept telling her she could have some when she was "bigger".  Well, there's no telling this girl that she's not "big" .  After many days on her tip toes, trying to convince me that she was big enough, I finally relented.

The first three 1/2 sticks got swallowed.  Ever since, she's been a champ!  It is officially Peach's new favorite "snack".

I have to admit - she was right on this one.  Sometimes I am guilty of trying to keep her little.
